Cast Iron Skillet - Season Skillet Myth - How to make non stick

Ed Note:  I believe he is right on this one, but you have to check your own way of dealing with cast iron.

I was talking to my Mother-in-law one time about how I basically do what he said and was careful to clean it (I do not use soap and water on mine), heat it up, oil it down, and let it cool and all the rest.  She waited patiently until I'd finished and then said, "I never did that to mine."

And that's the way it is, travelin' West.

Ed Note: If you cannot read what's below, Hold the left button on your mouse down and run your cursor over it and the text will magically appear.

If for any reason you have trouble getting into this youtube, there are at least four ways to do it:

Cut and paste the youtube website almost immediately below
click on the title in the black band at the top of the frame
click on the white triangle in the frame
click on the youtube logo in the black band at the bottom of the frame

IF none of those work, there is absolutely no hope for you.

Good Luck.

Cast Iron Skillet - Season Skillet Myth - How to make non stick

Cast Iron Skillets can be made as non-stick as any teflon pan. You can INSTANTLY "season" a skillet to make it non stick, so you can wash it whenever you want. Forget throwing the skillet in the oven. This is MUCH easier. Cast iron is cheap, healthy, and much easier to work with than teflon as well. Forget the hours in the oven junk. Just listen to the video and discover why lenghy "seasoning" of a cast iron skillet is just a waste of time.
